I didn’t have to think very hard.
I have a go-to song that I’ve used for the ups to get all pumped up for dealing with the many stressors of my made-for-tv-movie kind of life. It’s the same song I’ve used for the downs that come on the occasions of the “even Oprah herself couldn’t believe this shit.”
It’s by Creed. Ironic.
Creed [kreed], by definition:
1. any system, doctrine, or formula of religious belief, as of adenomination.
2. any system or codification of belief or of opinion.
3. an authoritative, formulated statement of the chief articlesof Christian belief, as the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed,or the Athanasian Creed.
4. the creed. Apostles’ Creed.
This song, by the very nature of the band’s namesake that performs it, is, indeed, my creed:
“I’m entitled to overcome
Completely stunned, I’m numb
Knock me down throw me to the floor
There’s no pain I can’t feel no more
I’m entitled to overcome
Finally see what’s beneath
Everything I am and hope to be
Cannot be lost
I’ll be dammed fighting you
You’re impossible, impossible
Say goodbye with no sympathy!”
(Oh, it might also have a lil’ ol’ bit’o eye candy. Might. Just sayin’. *shifty eyes*)
It’a VEVO video, thus I can’t embed directly on here. Which sucks ass. But this version is the most powerful one and I love it *heart*…it’s a behind-the-scenes plus real footage of their practice and performance of the song. Behind the scenes includes many shots of family (I wonder if any of THEIR kids shit in the floor vent)…and family is exactly why I endure what I do, persevere through it all and have the courage and strength to share it with everyone who might benefit in some small way by the trials and tribulations of the chaos of my reality.
This is NOT the beginning of the end…this might be the beginning of a fight and a bit (read: gargantuan) of a pain in the ass (and just about every square inch of my GO, GO, Spazzy Corpse) in the way of an inconvenience…but dude…I’ve gone through harder shit than this and I’m bigger than that.
Lupus, piss off.
Fibromyalgia, suck it.
Rheumatoid Arthritis, bite me.
Diabetes, shove it.
Blast it loud, sing it proud, spoonies!!
