“What’s the deal, banana peel?”
Today’s Prompt = Day 1: “My favourite thing about social media / the internet / online health communities…”
First of all, I had to correct the prompt. It’s “favoUrite” for me…I’m a Canuck. 😉
Second of all, I had to think of how to narrow down the list of how much I love the ability to use social media to spew continuous bombardments of health-related information to the residents of the world…making me feel like some kind of jacked up Jedi doing some kind of media mind-meld.
Ya. Sometimes social media gets a little…confusing. It’s like Anakin met Spock in some kind of pon farr….
What I’m getting at, is that I have the ability to hit up not just friends and family who have chronic afflictions of their own…I can hit up people who really, truly want to try to understand the chaos of the reality of my made-for-tv-movie kind of life.
And there is a PLETHORA (word of the day) of social media applications within which do to just this!!
I don’t just get to inform a small target market (Lupus patients, for example)…I can reach, literally, thousands of people who might do one (or all) of three things:
1) Learn something.
2) Be inspired.
3) Share knowledge and experience.
That’s why it’s called the “Web.” All interrelated, all the time.
That’s why I blog. My life is a culmination of “Even Oprah Can’t Make This Shit Up” and I endeavour to use as many possible weapons via social media to illustrate that those people who are chronically afflicted, like myself, are valid in their expressions of frustrations and irritabilities…and to tell them WHY.
THEN…I get to tell them how I could possibly…probably…very much likely…turn that frown upside down.
I do this by living by my own words. My deeds are my worth. My words are my worth. I strive to overcome and push through all that I endure in the hopes that I can empower others to reach outside of that box within which their comfort resides and………..
Dude, I cannot expect that people will continue to support me by reading my posts/tweets/statuses if I’m not willing to put in a little bit of effort!
No playing the “Eeyore Game.”
No calling “Whine-1-1.”
Next up on my social media output is the release of:
“The #gladitude Project”
And I promise it’s not all purple painted ponies pooping butterflies jacked up on SugarSmacks.
This life is REAL.
This life is FULL of media through which we can come together as a community and endeavour to bring a little light into the darker corners of the chaos of our reality.
Just let me go get my light saber from the USS Enterprise and I’ll meet you back here a littler later today 😉
