Who knew?

NHBPM Day 3: “I don’t know about this, but I’d like to.

Well, I really do know about them…but what I’m looking for is the opportunity to actually learn about them….

Herbalism.

her·bal·ism/ˈ(h)ərbəˌlizəm/
Noun:
The study or practice of the medicinal and therapeutic use of plants.

Specifically, the use of plants in the alternative therapy for the prevention and maintenance of health for those afflicted with chronic illness.

Even have gotten myself a certification program picked out.  One year.  On-line, distance education.

Problem?

Funding.  Of course.

One does not simply walk into Dominion Herbal College.

Not when one has five children to support.

*sigh*  I’ll be totally honest with you…it’s gotten me a wee bit’o’sad.  And by “wee”, I mean to the point that I have (on occasion) been resentful of peers and colleagues who can just up and take programs like they’re going out to buy a toothbrush.

I live to learn.  I am my happiest when I’m learning…even moreso than when crafting.

But, in a nutshell, I don’t know a whole helluva lot about medicinal uses of plants in their usefulness in healing and disease…but I surely will find the opportunity to get into this program that I verily believe will be the first step in formulating my own path of self-care that will, in fact, lead me into remission.

I’m certain of it.
